Alec by L.A. Casey

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
GENRE: Romance
THEME: Erotica, Mature
RECEIVED: Tour

BLURB:
Keela Daley is the black sheep of her family. She has always come second to her younger cousin Micah. Even in the eyes of her mother, Micah shone bright, and Keela faded to black. Now, in adulthood, Micah is a bride-to-be and the spotlight is solely on her. Keela is a low priority…or so she thinks.

Alec Slater is a bachelor, never one to bed the same woman, or man, twice. He is a free agent who does what he pleases and answers to no one; that is until a fiery Irish redhead with a temper to match her hair colour knocks him on his arse. Literally.

She hates to admit it, but Keela needs a favour from the cocky Slater brother, a huge favour. She needs him to not only escort her to Micah’s wedding, but to also pose as her boyfriend. Alec agrees to help Keela, but has certain conditions for her to abide by. He wants her body and plans to have it before anyone can say I do.

What he doesn’t plan on is losing his heart as well as the possibility of losing his family when someone from his past threatens his future.

Alec owns Keela, and what Alec owns, Alec keeps.

REVIEW:

After reading Dominic I felt it was going to be tough to beat the intense and hot romantic connection the leads had. Alec is a whole other ballpark, I had a bit of a love hate with Alec but I adored Keela because she’s just plain awesome.

Those who read the first book know about the Slater brothers, Alec is the older brother and was forced in becoming an escort after something Damien his other brother did, which got them in trouble. He has an interesting “appetite” and knows he has the charm.

Keela on the other hand I thought rocked, she has some majorly tough moments and is totally feisty. I knew she would be a good one to tame Alec and could challenge him into becoming a better guy. What was even more awesome was that she needed a date to her cousins wedding, which she’s dreading for many reasons. She asks Alec after being told by her friend to ask one of the brothers. I found all this hilarious and ballsy to ask a guy she didn’t know well. Thus Alec totally takes her up on the offer with a bit of incentive on his side; of course he wants something in return. But desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Anyways their chemistry was off the charts, there were moments I was laughing and moments I was fanning myself because the scene were that hot. But the Slater brother’s life is a dangerous life because of their past and it does catch up with them. There is a ton of drama and something the Alec does that actually made me lose all the connection that I started to like him for. Sadly I’m not keen on what he does even with the explanation.

Nonetheless I did enjoy this story because I wanted to see the brothers all have happiness. The romance is always awesome, as in the first book they are smoking in this one. The characters have a lot of depth and are nowhere near perfect, but it makes them real, which I like in stories. The ending I was happy with, I’m always going to root for these brothers and cant wait to see what happens next.

  1. Awesome review, Kristen! This sounds like a really good series and highly character driven which is the #1 of what I look for in this genre. It kinda reminds me a bit of the Brigid Kemmerer series but more adult. I also love how high in chemistry the character dynamics seem! Glad you liked it! I'll need to give Dominic a try! :)
